According to the Saudi state news agency, the authorities on Saturday announced the lifting of all preventive and precautionary measures related to the Covid-19 pandemic. The new decisions will come into force from Saturday, March 5, 2022.
The decision has been seemingly finalized after the progress that has been achieved in combating the pandemic in terms of the success of the national vaccination program and the high rates of immunization and immunity against the virus. The authorities also considered the epidemiological situation of the virus and the competent health authorities’ feedback.
All mosques in the Kingdom, including the Two Holy Mosques, are no longer required to practice social distancing, but worshipers still have to wear masks. Social Distancing measures which were previously applied at all closed and open spaces, events and activities have also been suspended. It is not mandatory to wear masks at open places, but it is compulsory indoors.
Travellers will not be required to submit a PCR or rapid antigen test upon arrival to the Kingdom. Also, the mandatory quarantine upon arrival has been lifted. However, travellers are required to get insurance coverage for any treatments that may be required for coronavirus infection.
Saudi Arabia also lifted the suspension of direct flights and arrival to the Kingdom from the following countries (Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique, Malawi, Madagascar, South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Angola, Seychelles, United Republic of Comoros, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, Mauritius, Zambia)
